The woman charged with murder in connection with the fire deaths of two young girls had a rocky romantic relationship with the girls’ mother, according to police records.

NewsCenter 5’s Todd Kazakiewich reported criminal records show Nicole Chuminski has a criminal record that dates back to when she was 17, when she was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

Other police reports show the mother of the two girls killed in the fire, Anna Reisopolous, 34, was arrested twice for assault and battery on Chuminski within a period of three days in January.

Police said Chuminski had long been considered a person of interest in the fire that killed Acia Johnson, 14, and Sophia Johnson, 2, in their South Boston home.

“An accelerant found on Chuminski’s clothes after the fire was consistent with an accelerant found on the door frame at 154 W. 6th St.,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley.

Witnesses said they believed the girls' mother had been involved in a loud fight with another woman after attending a wedding that night.

“Whether it’s her alone, or she had a partner involved, they deserve everything that’s coming to them,” said Marie Cardinale, a friend of the victims.

Chuminski was arrested in Lowell on Friday, and charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson.

She was set to be arraigned on Monday.
