A female Harvard University student was attacked on campus earlier this week, according to the school's newspaper.

The woman told university police that a man approached her from behind and wrapped a thin wire around her neck early Tuesday morning. She kicked the man and ran away unharmed.

The attack occurred near the Lamont Library in Harvard Yard at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, the Harvard Crimson reported.

No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.
