BOSTON -- A Massachusetts district attorney is investigating whether someone unlawfully used a key to access a courthouse bathroom through the district attorney's locked office.According to Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth D. Scheibel, a locked office that her staff uses at the Hadley courthouse was entered without her knowledge or permission sometime in late February, the Springfield Republican reported. The office has a small suite of rooms in the Russell Street Juvenile Court building, including a jury pool room and an attached bathroom.
The District Attorney's office has the only key to the bathroom, but Court Clerk Christopher Reavey reportedly had a court officer enter open it during a dispute about the toilet facilities and the conference room, the paper reported.Scheibel told the paper that her office is looking into the matter as it would investigate any other reported break-in.Scheibel would not confirm for the paper if a grand jury investigation has been launched into the matter, saying only that she could not ethically comment on any grand jury or "claimed" grand jury matter.
