BOSTON -- The operator of New England's power grid has lifted a power watch for Boston and northeastern Massachusetts. ISO-New England issued the advisory Thursday after unexpected outages to a transmission line and a power plant.A spokeswoman for the Holyoke-based company said the outages, combined with scheduled plant shutdowns for spring maintenance, left the grid with a tight electricity supply in the Boston area and the state's northeastern corner.
The watch was lifted at 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to a notice posted on ISO's Web site. The power watch was a notch below a more urgent power warning and did not apply to other areas of New England. No customer outages were reported.
