BOSTON -- A Boston firefighter was arrested after buying five Oxycontin pills from a known drug dealer, Boston police said.NewsCenter 5's Todd Kazakiewich reported police were monitoring Stephen Puglielli, 48, when he walked into the Broadway MBTA station, where they said they observed him make the drug deal with Boston firefighter William Boyle.
Watch VideoPolice said Boyle, 58, yelled, "I didn't do anything, I am a Boston firefighter,” as he was being arrested.Boyle, who is out on disability leave, later admitted to buying the pills for $200, according to police. Police said he also complained of back pain from an injury he said he suffered while working for the Boston Fire Department, and said he was on leave from the department.Boyle is a brother-in-law of Boston police Superintendent Dan Linsky, who released a statement Sunday.“I'm very disappointed to hear of this news but will support my wife and her family through this,” Linsky said in the statement. “Billy is a great guy who served honorably in Vietnam and on the Boston Fire Department. I hope this incident is the catalyst necessary to help him address his personal issues.”There was no comment from the Boston Fire Department Sunday night.Police said Puglielli fled on a bus and could not be located at his home.
