Dominatrix Mom Sentenced To Probation

Judge Orders $50 Fine

POSTED: 5:51 am EDT April 10, 2008

A Salem mom charged with running a dominatrix business out of her own home was sentenced to probation Wednesday.

Paula Webb, 43, of Albion Street, was charged with prostitution and agreed there was enough evidence to convict her, but the Salem News reported that if she stays out of trouble during three months probation and pays a $50 fine the case will be dismissed.

Prosecutors had hoped for a year's probation and restrictions on her use of the Internet.

Webb was arrested after police, acting on a tip from her husband, set up a sting and arranged a meeting.

Police said Webb's former husband told them several months before that there was a dominatrix dungeon in the basement equipped with ropes, whips and beds in the house they shared with two young children.

Being a dominatrix is not illegal in Massachusetts but Webb's former husband said when business was slow she turned to prostitution and advertised on a Web site.
