An Abenaqui Carriers tanker driver was seriously injured when he took evasive action to avoid an accident on Interstate 91 in Chicopee this morning.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the tanker driver was injured in an attempt to avoid a vehicular accident that occurred directly in front of his vehicle. This action then caused the tanker to roll over, injuring the tanker driver. The tanker carried 9,500 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

Our attention and concern is focused on the condition of our driver and ensuring the proper environmental response at the accident site. We continue to work directly with the authorities as they conduct their accident investigation and will provide you with further information as and when we receive it.
