ACAPULCO, Mexico -- Some local spring breakers have had a scare south of the border. Fire broke out in a hotel in Acapulco where several local college students were staying.
Watch Video The flames broke out on the ninth floor of the Best Western Playa Suites. While it apparently wasn't a big fire, there was plenty of smoke and no warning.“We were pretty much the last people out because we were so high up. We could smell the smoke but there was no smoke in our building. But the fire alarms in the hotel had all been pulled and did not work,” said vacationing student Sarah Senna. Concerned parents told NewsCenter 5 that the students are not being allowed back into the hotel for their belongings.
