A Boston man already serving a 55-year sentence for rape was sentenced to two additional 35 to 40 year sentences after being found guilty of repeatedly raping a 50-year-old woman in her home more than a dozen years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Che Sosa, 38, was found guilty Wednesday of two counts of aggravated rape for entering the woman's Jamaica Plain home in the early-morning hours of Aug. 22, 1995, through a window she had left open, beating her so badly her jaw was broken and raping her twice, Conley's office said.

The jury deliberated for about three days before coming back with a guilty verdict.

"The jury's decision was the right one," Conley said in a statement. "The crime at the heart of this case was so brutal as to speak for itself. We will recommend an appropriately harsh sentence."

The victim did no speak at the sentencing, but had the judge read a note on her behalf.

"I would like to thank the District Attorney's office, the court, the jury and the Boston Police department for closing the door to this long and difficult personal journey. Seeing Che Sosa convicted and put behind bars has renewed my spirit in ways I never expected," the note read.

Sosa's sentence will begin after he finishes the 55-year sentence for the previous rape conviction.

Sosa was charged with stabbing his own lawyer with a makeshift knife during his rape trial last year.

Sosa also had several outbursts during his recent trial. As he was led out of the courtroom by a large group of court and correction officers on Thursday, he said, "It's karma, baby."
