BROCKTON, Mass. -- The Guardian Angels are looking to set up shop in Brockton. The Brockton Enterprise reported the group, known for their red berets and jackets, could arrive as soon as April. The New York-based group said they're needed after a recent rash of violence, including the shootings of an elderly man, a teen and a cab driver last month. Guardian Angels are not armed, but they have been accused of vigilantism since the group's founding in 1979, according to the Enterprise. Group officials said the main goals are to keep an eye out for problems, which they then report to police. City officials said they would rather have more police patrolling the streets instead of an outside group.
