WEEI SportsRadio talk show host Glenn Ordway is taking a leave of absence to deal with a health crisis involving his wife and newborn daughter, the station announced Monday.

Ordway said there were complications during childbirth that injured both his wife and baby.

"This past Thursday night, my wife Sarah gave birth to a baby girl that we named Mia Grace Ordway. Unfortunately there were complications in the final stages of the delivery. As a result of those complications our baby suffered a significant trauma injury," Ordway wrote in a statement issued by the station.

"In the process, my wife Sarah also suffered an internal injury as a result of the childbirth," Ordway said.

Neither Ordway nor the station released more detailed information, other than to say the baby is being treated at Children's Hospital.

"By nurturing Sarah back to health quickly, I believe that we can allow the mother and baby bonding process to happen and subsequently increase baby Mia's chances for a recovery," Ordway said.

Ordway is the host of the station's highly-rated "Big Show" each afternoon.

WEEI announced it was postponing its infamous Whiney Awards ceremony that had been scheduled for next Tuesday, March 11. The awards have been rescheduled for April 3.
