BOSTON -- A woman was killed and a teenager was injured after in a stabbing and shooting in Revere on Monday.

Woman Stabbed, Teen Shot

Massachusetts State Police homicide detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office responded to a Fernwood Avenue home in Revere on Monday after a report of a stabbing. Officials said it appeared that the 37-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her teenage son. Police said when they arrived at the scene, the teenager charged at them and they shot him.

Neighbors said they are shocked.

"I just heard commotion, and I came out to look. I saw that it was my house, so I was asking around if anybody knew what happened. And I called my landlord, and he didn't know what was going on. And then I, you know, saw them take the mother out on a stretcher and they were trying to resuscitate her, and they took the son out," neighbor Kristy Gensel said.

Neighbors said the victim also has a young daughter. Her whereabouts were not immediately known.

The teenager was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. A police officer complaining of chest pains was also taken to the hospital.

No other details, including the names of the victims or a possible motive, were released.
