BOSTON -- The FBI posted 14 audio clips of recordings of fugitive crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger on the Internet Wednesday after a judge released them in the hope that doing so might generate some leads in the case.NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that Bulger, who is wanted in connection with 19 murders, is heard on the tapes discussing such mundane matters as ordering a sandwich or talking about cough medicine."I bought some stuff last night that knocked me for a loop," Bulger is heard saying on one recording.Agents are working on the theory that Bulger may be able to change the way he looks, but not the way he sounds, assuming he still has his distinctive Boston accent. In one recording he's heard talking about the "Marine Park," dropping the "R" in park to say marine "pahk" several times.Bulger, the reputed leader of the former Winter Hill Gang, was also an FBI informant until he fled in 1995 when his FBI handler tipped him off that he was going to be indicted on racketeering charges. That agent is now serving a 10-year prison sentence, but Bulger is still on the run and was last seen in London in 2002.
