A lot of MBTA riders around Boston were doing double takes Saturday night.

Dozens of riders kept their pledge to ride the trains in their underwear in a stunt they're calling "No Pants 2K8."

It's a group prank inspired by a comedy troupe that has done the same thing in New York and other cities.

The pantless riders were supposed to act like everything is normal.

Organizers got a mixed-reaction from other riders who were not in on the joke.

Pants-free subway rides were also being coordinated Saturday in Washington; San Francisco; Chicago; Portland, Ore.; and Adelaide, Australia.

The Boston-area organizer, Adam Sablich, posted invitation about the event on the social networking sites Facebook and MySpace.
