BOSTON -- Authorities are investigating whether there were suspicious circumstances surrounding a fire in Boston that claimed the lives of two people on New Year's Eve.NewsCenter 5's Shiba Russell reported that fire and homicide Investigators are now looking into whether someone intentionally set the fire at the condo complex that killed Peter and Arvette Clancy. The husband and wife died in the blaze and neighbors reportedly said that vandals have targeted the family before.
They said the couple's windows had been broken on a number of occassions, prompting police to respond. On the night of the fire, New Year's Eve, a neighbor reported seeing two men running from the building on Emerson Street moments before the blaze began, the Boston Herald reported. Apparently, the trouble started after the Clancys inherited the condo from Peter's parents. Investigators said the fire most likely started in the couple's kitchen. The Clancy's leave behind three children, including a 15-year-old daughter, who just happened to be at a friend's house to ring in the new year.
