Teen Shot In Head Outside Home

Police Search For Suspect's In 17-Year-Old's Shooting

A teenage student athlete was shot Monday as he left his home in Mattapan.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the 17-year-old was shot outside 15 Southmere Rd. at about 6:15 a.m. Officials said that several shots were fired, and the teen was struck in the head.

The victim's name has not been released. He was hospitalized at Boston Medical Center in serious condition. No arrests have been made.

Neighbors described the teen as a star athlete and said that he was never in trouble with the law.

The teen's family runs Simply the Best Daycare out of the home.
