A 20-year-old man accused of shooting and killing an off-duty Revere police officer is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that police believe Robert Iacoviello Jr. is a member of the Bloods street gang.

He was arrested last December by the police officer he's now accused of killing.

Iacoviello will be in court to face murder charges.

Iacoviello is accused of killing Revere police Officer Dan Talbot behind the high school on Sept. 29.

Talbot was drinking with several other off-duty policemen when a confrontation broke out between them and a teen identified as Derek Lodie, 17.

It turned deadly when Lodie called several friends to join him and, according to the district attorney, Iacoviello showed up with two other men.

After a heated exchange, Iacoviello allegedly produced his weapon and fired.

Talbot was shot in the head.
