Six Boston schools were locked down while police searched for a kidnapping and robbery suspect.

Police said a pizza shop owner was kidnapped and thrown into a van on River Street in the city's Hyde Park section, but jumped out of the vehicle on Washington Street.

"It makes you worry. You look at everybody who walks through that door. And you never know when it's your turn," said Anthony Montes , who owns store next to the pizza shop.

The van crashed and the suspect fled on foot. He is described as a black male, about 5 foot 7 inches tall, wearing a black hat and a brown jacket.

The schools were locked down at about 12:30 p.m. A lock down means no one is allowed in or out of the building.

Four schools reopened at 1:30 p.m., and the two others reopened about 15 minutes later.
