Foxborough police are investigating the death of a young man who was found shot to death on Route 106.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported Monday that the man, a male in his late-teens or early-20s, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

"Multiple gunshots rang out -- several rounds of gunshots," Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating said.

Keating said that several neighbors heard the shots at about 12:30 a.m., but no one called police until after 1 a.m. when someone leaving the Cabot Business Park noticed something strange.

"He observed what he thought was debris, pulled around, and when he realized it was a body, he did call the police station," Foxborough Police Department Chief Edward O'Leary said.

Paramedics tried to revive the man. Officials said that they believe the victim was in a vehicle with several other people before he was shot.

"A person exited the car. They tried to flee, and is subject to multiple gunshot wounds," Keating said.

Crime scene investigators took note of shattered gas on the highway, near the Interstate 95 overpass.

"Evidence of shell casings have been found near the body," O'Leary said.

Officials were interviewing neighbors and people at the nearby Holiday Inn.

"People should not be alarmed that they are in any danger themselves. It's a safe area. It is not a random-type of act, we don't believe," Keating said.
