It was a frightening and rude awakening for a Saugus couple early Sunday morning. Karen and Anthony Fabrizio were startled out of their sleep to find a car in their bed.

A Lexus had smashed through the wall of their home on Lincoln Avenue and into their bedroom.

Emergency crews on the scene told WCVB that the crash happened about 3 a.m. They said it appeared the woman driving the car lost control, sending the vehicle onto its side and into the Fabrizio's house.

Anthony Fabrizio said his wife suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

Police said they will charge the driver, Maria Bouras, 30, of Lynn.
