The bomb squad was called to a Newton home on Tuesday after a woman found grenades while cleaning out her basement.

The grenades were taken from the Longwell Road home and demolished at a gravel pit.

The weapons were not live, but the detonators appeared to have been altered, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
