Firefighters responded Wednesday to three manhole fires in Boston's North End.

The fires were reported near 230 Hanover St. at about 5:45 p.m. Smoke could be seen billowing from a number of manholes. Several restaurants were evacuated, but there were no reports of any injuries.

Officials said the fires could be related to Wednesday's unseasonably warm temperatures.

Evening commuters were urged to avoid the area.
