POSTED: 6:01 am EDT July 2, 2007

A busy day of shopping took an unusual turn in Somerville, Mass., as officials were called to Target store to deal with a suspicious package.

Explosive experts were called to the store on Somerville Avenue store Sunday afternoon.

An employee noticed an unattended package with wires and batteries sticking out.

After inspecting the package with a robot, the Cambridge explosives detective team detonated it.

The package was determined to be harmless.

Officials are now reviewing store tapes to see if they can find out who left the package.

The store remained open the whole time.
