BOSTON -- A deadly crash that followed a state police chase may soon claim a second life.NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported that Walid Chahine, a cab driver from Methuen, was working early Sunday morning when a sport utility vehicle slammed into his car. Chahine, 45, was critically injured and remained on life support at Massachusetts General Hospital. One of his passengers, Tufts University graduate and band member Paul Farris, 23, was killed in the crash. The driver of the sport utility vehicle, Javier Morales, 29, of Somerville, was arraigned from his hospital bed on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to motor vehicle homicide."They are doing as you would expect. It is a very traumatic moment for them, given what they are going through," said Elias Bassil, one of Chahine's friends. The Chahines bought their home a few months ago. They live there with their 4-year-old son."He came here 20 years ago. He studied here, and he went to college here. He started working and had this accident while working," Bassil said. "(The family) thanks you for being here, and they thank the public who has shown great interest and concern regarding this tragedy. They wish to thank everyone who has prayed and everyone who is willing to pray some more for them."
