One person was killed in a crash that followed a police chase in Somerville early Sunday morning.

Police said the incident began with a state trooper chasing an SUV in Everett.

Javier Morales, 29, of Somerville, had allegedly refused to stop for state police after he was ordered to pull over for motor vehicle violations.

Morales led police on a high-speed pursuit onto Kidder Avenue in Somerville, where they said his SUV crashed into a taxi.

Paul Farris, 23, of Medford, was found in the bushes outside the cab after the crash. Farris was taken to Somerville Hospital where he died.

Several other people were injured, including the driver of the cab and a passenger.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office has charged Morales with motor vehicle homicide. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
