In total "Inside Edition" reporters said they witnessed rodents in eight Boston eateries including:

  • McCormick & Schmick’s, North Market Building, (Quincy Market)
  • Starbucks, 627 Tremont St. (South End)
  • China Pearl, 9 Tyler St. (Chinatown)
  • Cappy’s II, 309 Huntington Ave.
  • Trident Booksellers & Café, 335 Newbury St. (Back Bay)
  • Thai Basil, 132 Newbury St. (Back Bay)
  • Assaggio, 29 Prince St. (North End)

These responses were given to "Inside Edition":

McCormick & Schmick’s issued a statement saying, "We have regular inspections..." and any report that runs contrary to our standards is"…completely unacceptable, taken very seriously and addressed immediately."

The Starbucks Coffee Company said since "Inside Edition" notified them of the findings, they've had three inspections, including one from the health department, that all found "no evidence of rodent or other pest activity."

China Pearl owner David Moy blamed the rats on Boston’s Big Dig construction project and said he has been trying to get rid of the rats with regular pest control service.

The owners of Italian eateries Express and Assaggio told "Inside Edition" they were “shocked” by the findings and have regular rodent control services.

The owner of Thai Basil blamed his building for the vermin being caught in his restaurant, claiming there is a consistent rodent problem. He also told "Inside Edition" that after seeing the footage, he called the exterminator to come immediately.

The owner of Cappy’s II, the pizza parlor near Northeastern University, said he has rodent abatement services at least once a month.

Trident Booksellers & Café said they haven’t seen any rodents but have regular inspections and think they are doing a good job.
