A Fall River man was accused Friday of endangering a child and possession of marijuana.

Christopher J. Cerce, 30, called police Thursday to report that his 8-month-old son was not breathing. The infant was taken to St. Anne's Hospital and later transferred to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island, where he was listed in critical condition.

Doctors at Hasbro told police that the infant's condition was most likely the result of shaken baby syndrome.

Cerce was later placed under arrest and is scheduled to face charges later Friday.
