BOSTON -- A plowable snowfall is becoming increasingly likely for most of southern New England on Thursday, except on the south coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, forecasters said. It was expected to cause difficult travel conditions in many areas.After an Easter weekend that featured temperatures colder than Christmas Day, snow was expected to fall over most of southern New England late Wednesday night and continue into Thursday. The intensity of the snowfall will determine whether it changes over to rain.Thursday morning's rush hour was expected be a mess for most locations in southern New England, as heavy snow will likely be falling."Parts of our area may get a significant snowfall," said StormTrak 5 Meteorologist Harvey Leonard.The heaviest snow was predicted for the Worcester hills. There may be enough snow to cause power outages in some areas.Boston was predicted to get a mixture of wet snow and rain. Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape were expected to see mostly rain.Thursday afternoon’s Red Sox game against the Seattle Mariners could be in jeopardy. The last time a Red Sox game was "snowed-out" at Fenway Park was in April 1996.
