Cape Cod Doctor Accused Of Killing Husband

Man Found Dead In Couple's Barnstable Home

A Cape Cod doctor was arrested Sunday and charged with fatally shooting her husband, police said.

Patrick Lancaster, 50, was found dead Sunday afternoon in the couple's Coach Lane home in Barnstable about 12:30 p.m.

Police said they received a 911 call from his wife, Ann Gryboski, 51, but when they got to the house, Lancaster was already dead of gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

Gryboski was charged with killing him, police said. She is facing arraignment Monday morning at Barnstable District Court.

"It's a tragic event and beyond that I'm not going to characterize it further," Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe told the Cape Cod Times. "The salient point is that there is some mitigation and we'll be looking at it closely."

Gryboski practices Internal Medicine in Yarmouth and has a discipline-free record at Cape Cod Hospital, officials there said.

Police were not talking about a motive.

Lancaster, just three days from his 51st birthday when he died, was a builder and owned the 31-foot boat Emily S., which he used for charter trips out of Barnstable Harbor for several years, according to state records.

The couple has two adult children, one of whom was at home on Sunday, O'Keefe said.
