Fire Scares Cheerleaders

Hair Dryer Sparks Bed Flames

There were some scary moments over the weekend for some New Hampshire cheerleaders after a hotel fire destroyed some of their belongings the night before a big competition.

The cheerleaders, from Celebrity Cheering, said sparks flew from a hair dryer Saturday night and caused the bed to catch fire at a Seekonk, R.I., Ramada Inn.

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other rooms but the cheerleaders lost everything, including uniforms and sneakers.

The story does have a happy ending, however. Other cheerleaders from the competition loaned the girls some equipment and they finished first in their division.

The Ramada Hotel remained closed overnight. It's expected to reopen over the next few days.
