Investigators returned to the Milford neighborhood where a newborn was found dead in a garbage truck over the weekend.

They're focusing on the same home they searched on Saturday, after making the gruesome discovery.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that they still have many questions, even after an autopsy was completed Monday.

Detectives returned to the family's Purchase Street home in Milford where the baby's mother and longtime boyfriend live, collecting photos and other items from the home.

The 27-year-old mother, whose name has not been released, said she delivered the baby unexpectedly and he was stillborn.

"The umbilical cord and placenta were present. The question is, was the child born alive or was it a stillborn. And that's really a key factor for us," Milford Police Chief Tom O'Louglin said.

The baby's mother faces possible criminal charges after city workers found the deceased baby in the back of a dump truck. She and the boyfriend also have an 8-year-old child and the state Department of Social Services will determine whether that child will be allowed to remain with them.
