Police are investigating a vandalism spree in Brockton that resulted in dozens of smashed car windows and windshields.

NewsCenter 5's Jim Boyd reported that most of the damage was done in the southwestern section of the city.

"The vandalism started coming in maybe on Thursday and Friday morning. We got about four or five on Thursday, five or six on Friday, three or four on Saturday, and today we have had upwards of 10 jobs," said Jim Lynch of J.N. Phillips Auto Glass.

Police said they have received at least two-dozen reports of malicious damage to vehicles in the last few days.

The Rev. Ronald Stephenson said not having his car has created hardship for him.

"I carry children to church and I pick up teenagers, youth. Not having the van to take them to activities on Saturday and on Sunday -- I feel pretty bad about it," he said.

Lynch said it is hard to tell how some of the windows were broken, but some are obvious.

"Most of it is from a pellet gun. We do see the holes in the glass that give us signs that that is exactly what broke it. There are other ones that have been broken with baseball bats or some sort of pipe. It busts the glass right out," Lynch said.

Although most of the vandalism has been limited to cars, one resident reported that his living room window was shot out.
