BOSTON -- Several breast-feeding mothers took their children to Boston's Logan International Airport on Tuesday morning taking part in a show of support for a New Mexico woman who was ordered off an airplane in Vermont because she was breast-feeding.NewsCenter 5's Jim Boyd reported that the protests, called Nurse-Ins, were scheduled on Tuesday at about 20 airports across the country as a show of solidarity for Emily Gillette, of Sante Fe, N.M., who was ousted from Freedom Airlines Flight 6160 on Oct. 13 in Burlington, Vt., because she was breast-feeding."(The flight attendant) put her hand up and said, 'Just get off the plane. Get off the plane,' over and over again," Gillette said.Gillette said that's what the flight attendant demanded after she refused to accept a blanket and cover up as she sat in a window seat, next to her husband, breast feeding her 1 ½-year-old daughter, River.Mothers also protested at the Burlington airport on Tuesday."Breast-fed babies need to eat when they need to eat. They can't sit on a plane for five hours and not eat. It's probably more pleasant for everybody if the baby eats, because otherwise, the baby's going to be fussing and crying," said Cassandra Brush.Delta, who operates Freedom Airlines, issued a statement on Tuesday that read, "The airline fully supports a mother's right to breast-feed her baby onboard our aircraft and we regret the decision to remove the passenger from flight 6160."Gillette has contacted the Vermont Attorney General, who filed a complaint on her behalf.Despite the airline's apology, the Burlington Free Press reported that the flight attendant who ordered Gillette off the plane is still an employee with the airline.
