Durant, Thunder Crush Magic

POSTED: 9:55 pm EST November 8, 2009

(Sports Network) - Kevin Durant finished with 28 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a dominating 102-74 win over the Orlando Magic at Ford Center.

Russell Westbrook added 17 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for the Thunder, who snapped a three-game slide. Thabo Sefolosha added 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Nenad Krstic scored 14 points.

The victory is the Oklahoma City franchise's first over Orlando since January 11, 2006, when the team was still located in Seattle. The Magic had swept the two-game series in each of the last three seasons.

Dwight Howard finished with 20 points and seven boards, but the Magic shot just 36.8 percent overall and just 3-for-16 (18.8 percent) from three-point range.

Mickael Pietrus scored 15 off the bench for Orlando, which had won two in a row.

The Magic carried a 25-23 edge after the first quarter, then scored six of the first eight points in the second. But the Thunder chipped away, and back-to- back threes from Westbrook and Durant gave them a 37-35 edge.

Oklahoma City went on a 13-3 run near the end of the half to expand its lead to double-digits, though a jumper from Jameer Nelson got Orlando within 53-44 at the break.

However, the Thunder came out blazing in the third, as Jeff Green made consecutive baskets before Durant drained a three. Durant followed with a technical free throw to make it a 61-44 game, and Oklahoma City only widened its lead from there.

A Nick Collison hook shot capped a nine-point burst to push the advantage to 72-49 just past the midway point. Two free throws from Sefolosha ended the third quarter to give the Thunder a 79-57 lead going to the fourth, and they cruised from there.

Game Notes

Oklahoma City sank 9-of-16 three-point attempts and shot 57.1 percent overall...The Thunder outscored the Magic 56-32 over the middle two quarters...Nelson ended with 10 points for Orlando.
