Police: Man, 78, Drove Car Into Building

BOSTON -- Newburyport fire crews said they responded to a call of a car hitting a building early Friday.
Equipment was called in to extract someone who was trapped inside the vehicle, they said.The driver was identified as a 78-year-old man who was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital.Authorities said the crash happened at an apartment house at 61 Water St., but early reports were limited on details."I was upstairs in a sound sleep, I thought I had a bad dream or it was an earthquake. I woke up and there's a car through the bottom floor," said Chris McGlichey, a resident who lives on the second floor of the apartment house.There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
