BOSTON -- Beverly High School was locked down Wednesday after five .22-caliber bullets were found inside a bathroom, according to Beverly police.
Bullets Found In SchoolThe Sohier Road building was locked down as police and K-9 units searched the school. Eight teams of Beverly police officers, Massachusetts State Police and school personnel searched the building, which included classrooms, storage areas, common areas and student lockers. No firearms or anything associated with the ammunition was discovered.Two paintball guns were discovered during the search. This is a separate incident from the ammunition, and it is being investigated.Students were released from school after the search. Some parents who gathered at the school said that their children called them from cell phones to inform them of the incident.The Beverly Police Department will have additional police officers at the high school on Thursday. Students will be allowed to enter school at the Patten Wing and Main Entrances.Anyone with information is asked to call the Beverly Police Department at 978-922-1212.
