BOSTON -- A gas main break shut down Route 1 in Saugus in both directions for a short time on Tuesday morning.

Southbound Route 1 traffic was detoured at the Lynn Fells Parkway, and northbound traffic was rerouted at Main Street. The roadway was fully reopened just before 11 a.m.
No evacuations were necessary.
