SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Starting Wednesday, Starbucks customers are paying more for their cup of coffee. The coffee giant has raised prices an estimated 11 cents a cup. The company blames the increase on rising coffee, dairy and health care costs. The company released the following statement:"Starbucks has not taken a system-wide price increase on beverages since August 2000, more than four years ago. We have said publicly that we would increase prices before the end of the calendar year. Based on increased costs throughout the business, Starbucks plans to raise beverage prices by an average of 11 cents."Starbucks customers in Sacramento, Calif., didn't seem to mind the price hike."It doesn't bother me ... I'm going to buy it anyway. It's worth it ... it's convenience," an unidentified Starbucks customer said."It's a business ... they need to make money, need to pay employees. I'd rather pay 11 cents more and make sure people have health insurance than have people out of work," Starbucks customer Kevin Hinds said.Industry experts said the boost was not that dramatic and was not likely to hurt business.Starbucks has 4,500 stores across the country.
