WASHINGTON -- Wal-Mart is recalling 146,000 slow cookers because the heating element can melt the plastic shell, posing a burn hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been 27 reports of scorched or damaged countertops, though no injuries have been reported.The recalled General Electric Cool Touch 6 Quart Slow Cooker, with a removable blue ceramic bowl, was sold in Wal-Mart stores nationwide from June 2003 through May 2004 for about $28.Consumers should return the slow cooker to Wal-Mart for a full refund.Call Wal-Mart at (800) 876-1288 or log on to Wal-Mart Stores for more information.
