BOSTON -- A local safety advocate group released its annual list of the Worst Summer Toys on Thursday.

A motorized tarantula, a sling shot and dart set are among the toys World Against Toys Causing Harm said children should avoid.

"It's fun. It's alluring. It can kill you," said Joan

W.A.T.C.H. said many of the toys are on local store shelves. The group reminded parents about the importance of safety equipment, such as helmets.

"Make sure your child wears a helmet," Siff said. "Also, depending on the product, elbow guards, knee guards, and in some instances, wrist guards."

As children look to cool off this summer, W.A.T.C.H. also warned of the ongoing problems of pool safety.

"Everyday, nine people drown in the U.S. and one-quarter of these are children under the age of 14," Siff said.
