BOSTON -- Local housekeepers fired by the Hyatt hotel chain say the company has broken a promise.NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported that the workers say extended health benefits have been cut back, putting their children at risk.Emerson College has moved their holiday party from the Boston Hyatt. The college sent the message that it doesn't like how the Hyatt Corp. is treating fired house keepers. In addition to the holiday party, they are cancelling two more events."These issues are neither black and white. There are always gray areas, but at least they are doing something," one student said.Fired worker Viola Joseph said Hyatt had promised full medical coverage until March, but that has not held true."When I took (my son) to the hospital they said he was not covered. No coverage for my children. I am disappointed with Hyatt. They lied to us," she said. She said she is worried how she will pay his medical bills."If the insurance is just for me then I don't want it. They can take it back because I don't want it. I want coverage for my family," she said.Hyatt said late Monday that there's been "no change to Hyatt’s former employees' medical coverage.""Our insurance provider has confirmed that two claims were incorrectly denied due to a clerical error made by the insurance provider. The insurance provider has informed us that the errors have been corrected and that the claims will be fully reimbursed," Hyatt said in a statement.
