Mets Send Church To DL Again

POSTED: 9:21 pm EDT July 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - The New York Mets sent outfielder Ryan Church to the 15-day disabled list again due to post-concussion symptoms.

Church has been suffering the effects of a concussion since May 20 when he took a knee to the head while trying to break up a double play in a game versus Atlanta. Church made a late slide into second and shortstop Yunel Escobar's knee clipped him in the head.

It was the second concussion of the year for Church, who suffered a head injury in spring training after colliding with teammate Marlon Anderson.

Church was on the DL most of June due to post-concussion symptoms before returning on June 29. He's hitting .307 with 10 homers and 36 RBI in 57 games this season.

The Mets replaced Church on the roster by calling up outfielder Nick Evans from Double-A Binghamton.
