Yankees' Damon Leaves Game Vs. Red Sox

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees left fielder Johnny Damon left Friday's game with the Boston Red Sox after suffering a left shoulder contusion on a bizarre play in the third inning.

Boston's Kevin Youkilis hit a fly ball to deep left that Damon appeared to catch. Replays showed that the ball actually bounced out of his glove and onto the top of the fence, where it sat still for a moment before falling back onto the field.

Damon, meanwhile, slammed his back into the fence on the play, and clutched his side in pain. The play resulted in a two-run triple for Youkilis, tying the game at 3-3. The former Red Sox center fielder was replaced in left by Brett Gardner.
