Pittsburgh, PA -- (Sports Network) - Duquesne has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Ron Everhart through the 2013-14 season, the school announced on Wednesday.Everhart was named the 15th coach in team history on March 29, 2006 and he guided the team from a school-worst record 3-24 in 2005-06 to a 10-19 mark in the 2006-07 season, despite a shooting before the season that left five players injured. Last season, Duquesne had its best start in 27 years and finished the season with a 17-13 mark, the school's first winning campaign since 1993-94.
"Duquesne is a very special place," Everhart said. "It really is an honor to receive an extension. I am fortunate to be part of a program that has such a strong commitment to basketball excellence. The support we receive from Dr. Charles Dougherty and Greg Amodio has given us the opportunity to compete at the highest level of the Atlantic 10. I'm excited to be part of that process."
