Harrisburg, PA -- (Sports Network) - Ray Schnittker, driver and trainer of Hambletonian winner Deweycheatumnhowe, has been named 2008 Trainer of the Year by the United States Harness Writers Association. The association also awarded Schnittker its W.R. Haughton Good Guy Award.

Schnittker managed the 2008 season for the three-year-old trotter to an overall record of 12 wins in 15 starts for more than $2.2 million. Along with the Hambletonian, Deweycheatumnhowe won the Kentucky Futurity giving the colt two of the three Triple Crown races. He did not race in the Yonkers Trot.

The Good Guy Award is given to an individual who demonstrates "savvy and cooperation" with the harness racing media.

Schnittker will receive his awards as part of the Night of Stars awards banquet on Wednesday, February 4, at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
