BOSTON -- Michael Young is the Live Sky5 pilot/reporter for WCVB-TV/DT Channel 5. He joined the station in February 2008. Michael comes to WCVB from WHAS-TV in Louisville, Kentucky where he was the pilot for Sky 11 for two years.

Michael is a member of the National Broadcast Pilots Association and he launched his aviation career in 2001. Trained at Hillsboro Aviation in Oregon, he became a flight instructor at CR Helicopters in Nashua, New Hampshire. He then went onto work in the metropolitan New York area and the Gulf of Mexico as a pilot before transitioning to broadcast reporting.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Michael volunteers with local youth groups and has been a Safety Counselor for the FAA. He is a Boston sports fan and loves to go to Red Sox and Patriots games. The certified flight instructor is a Braintree native and is happy to return to his family and friends in the area.
