BROCKTON, Mass. -- The outrage over the suspension of a 6-year-old Brockton student who was kicked out of class for sexual harassment continued Wednesday.NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly reported that officials at the Downey Elementary School called the boy's mother, Berthena Dorinvil, on Jan. 30, and asked her to pick up her child from the school. Dorinvil said that officials told her that her son was being suspended for sexually harassing a 6-year-old female classmate."I thought it was kind of sad that a 6-year-old could get accused of harassment when he doesn't really know anything about that," Brockton resident Gladys Rudnickas said."I wouldn't even think that the kids would know enough to realize that. I wouldn't even think that (kids) would think like that," Brockton resident Andrew Studebaker said."I think it's ridiculous. He is 6. He is just a kid. He doesn't know any better. He is just trying to learn, basically," Brockton resident Erica Reis said.School officials continued to decline comment, but the school superintendent released a statement on Tuesday that said, "The safety and well-being of Brockton public school students and staff is of the utmost important to us, and we take all allegations of sexual harassment seriously.""They should sit with the child, and show him that what he did was wrong -- try to let him understand what (the) circumstances are. He is still young. He is a baby, actually," Brockton resident Masie Morrison said.
