Do you exercise less in colder weather?
Falling temperatures can mean good exercise intentions fall by the wayside.

Medical and fitness experts suggest some steps to keep exercise routines on the fast track during the winter months, reported KXAS-TV in Dallas.

Lower temperatures, for example, can trigger an asthma attack during which the muscles surrounding airways constrict. Physicians suggest lessening the workout load if you start to cough.

Physical trainers say additional stretches can help the body cope with colder air. Three to five minutes of dynamic stretching such as jumping jacks that move the muscles in three directions can get the body warmed up and ready for a more strenuous workout, said Rick Stauffer, a sports therapist at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

Doctors also suggest wearing multiple layers of clothing, including a scarf, while exercising outside. The scarf can be used to cover the mouth when the temperature hits the freezing mark.

Exercisers always should drink enough fluids to remain hydrated during cold weather or the heat of summer.

Stretching at the end of a workout to cool down muscles can be just as important was stretching to begin the routine.
