Most mothers would say bouncing back from pregnancy and childbirth isn't easy, but there is an exercise program that caters to the special fitness needs of new moms.

NewsCenter 5's Liz Brunner reported that getting back into shape after childbirth is a battle. Now, some women are in boot camp.

A cardio-based workout called "Bounceback" isn't for the faint of heart.

Instructor Charles Inniss modifies exercises for each client. They work as hard as they want to. Most are extremely motivated.

"The new moms that come to me are so ambitious, they have that goal. They had the baby, they gained a little weight, they want it off now. They want it off yesterday," Inniss said.

A couple of things set Bounceback apart from other exercise programs. Weather permitting, classes are held outdoors, where sunshine and fresh air can help blow away the post-partum blues.

There's on-site babysitting, so moms can concentrate on themselves but quickly comfort or feed cranky babies if necessary.

"They have baby sitting, which is key. A lot of the health clubs, you can't bring your children until they're 6 months old, so it's really tough to get out and get into a program," participant Kristen Brophy said.

The women point to another benefit -- as new moms, they're all in the same boat.

"You can share ideas, share advice, and sometimes if you just need to talk about an issue that you're dealing with your child, like solid food or diapers, or whatever, it's great to bounce ideas off each other and have that support as well," participant Nicole Lewis said.

Most women can get back to an exercise routine six to 10 weeks after delivery.
