The government offered advice Thursday about the H1N1 flu and what steps travelers can take so their holidays are not ruined.

Whether it's in a crowded airport or on a bus or train, there will be lines everywhere next week. That means people will be in tight quarters and could spread the flu.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is telling anyone considered high risk to get vaccinated before they travel.

Vendors at Logan International Airport are selling travel kits with masks, hand sanitizer, thermometers and wipes, though the CDC worries masks aren't used properly.

Travelers were urged to try to identify health-care resources in the areas where they plan to visit. Find out of your insurance plan covers medical care during your trip. The CDC said many insurance companies do not cover those costs.

You can purchase additional insurance that covers medical care costs during international travel.

Be aware that some countries are checking the health of arriving and/or exiting passengers and screening them for illness due to the H1N1 flu to prevent others from getting sick.
